Thank you to Carrie for sending me the link. Several Kwak'wala resources have been created over the last 100 years yet it can be difficult for community members to locate and access these resources. Of course, nothing takes the place of engaging directly with Kwak'wala speakers, but print resources can be helpful in our Kwak'wala work. The 3 files at this site are large and will take a while to download. What you'll find is stories in English on the left side of the page and in Kwak'wala on the right side. Ix'aka̱n tłax̱ gada. Follow the link to this great resource, Willy Ḵ̓alawi', developed by Copper Canoe for the Wachiay Friendship Centre. I've had so much fun with this. There are lots of visual clues so even with my limited Kwak'wala I can understand most of the story. My task today will be to verify my guesses. I'm on a search for the suffix, -ida. If you haven't been to Andy's blog, Adventures in Kwak'wala, go check it out. It's become my daily habit.

Have you seen the movie Hank Williams First Nation? I am trying to learn to sing in Kwak'wala and play on my fiddle, the tune Your Cheating Heart. I was wondering about other Hank Williams songs that have been translated into other Indigenous languages. Check out the Youtube video of Joel Denny Eskasoni singing Kawlaga in Mi'Kmaq.
